Well, life is filling in too much of my time and so I am a bit slow here. But, coming soon:

Reviews of several cookbooks which arrived by mail -- including the Tuscan Peasant Food promised before and an interview, something that has not happened in a while -- this time with a chemist from Hobart and William Smith who has offered a course on food chemistry. His name? Justin Miller.

So, keep an eye out for this and more -- and stay dry today in the rain rain rain

In addition to a look to the future, upcoming entries will look at some restaurants in Ann Arbor and in Chicago, Illinois. In the latter category, we went to a restaurant called graham elliot, and then came home to discover his picture in the newest issue of Bon Apetit. Hmmmmmm. NO, we were not in the know, but yes we loved the place. And there are many many more. In fact, we went to two places, each of which had a single Michelin star. And more. Yep, more.

    . . . . the question of whether vegan cuisine is an oxymoron (not so much).

    . . . . and Greece. And here, I do NOT mean a location near Rochester.

More crucially, for the mystery lovers among the readership, a new mystery from Alexander Campion, entitled Crime Fraiche, due out in a month starting with J.

And, it is always risky to hype an interview since so many of those never come through (like the folks from Madderlake -- for example. . . .) but watch here and see if the folks from Leaf Kitchen (already reviewed once here) answer some of Bibliochef's questions. . . .

Let's see - fit into the interstices of life --

1. A review of a book I am currently reading with one of the oddest title's ever: Edward Trencom's Nose: A Novel of History, Dark Intrigue, and Cheese -- and yes, this is indeed about cheese in many ways, the olfactory (and nasal), and such oddities as Ataturk (a name I have never encountered in a novel -- and yet I read the most wonderful biography of him before I went to Turkey and missed seeing his socks in a museum because. . . . well, I can't remember why!)

2. Some musings on lemon curd made with. . . . Meyer Lemons . . . on a Saturday afternoon.

3. A few tidbits on whatever else seems apt -- for Finger Lakes foodie delights.

Have you read the New Yorker Food Isse? I have -- and will let you in on what I made of it. (No, I did not fricassee it.)

What else? Well, I have been wanting to go to Hazelnut Kitchen in Trumansburg and by the time you read this I will have been -- so watch here for a review. I did eat at a joint called Brio in Rochester recently -- which was, alas, the worst meal out I have had in ages except for a) the company and b) the fact that they did not charge us for a single entree (tells you how bsd it was).
